"It's impossible for me to adequately describe what a joy it was, being with real rock icons and playing amongst other songs, 'Pinball Wizard'...I just couldn't stop grinning and felt 17 again. As usual when you meet genuinely great people they are totally natural and fun to be with, Roger Daltrey, Simon Townsend, Billy Nicholls and 'Rabbit' John Bundrick made me very welcome and I was flattered indeed to be invited for this special occasion.....thanks chaps!.....But I'm not getting a Bass-guitar".

"I would also like to thank Bobby Pridden and Alan Rogan for their genuine and friendly assistance".

"LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT AWARD - PENTANGLE

Chosen to represent the band’s five members, the name of Pentangle quickly became synonymous with uniquely jazz/rock-tinged folk music. The original line-up of Jacqui McShee (vocals), John Renbourn (guitar), Bert Jansch (guitar), Danny Thompson (double bass) and Terry Cox (drums), was unchanged throughout the band's first incarnation (1967-1973). Reactivated in the early 1980s, only McShee survives in the current line-up, though Jansch also was a member of the second incarnation of the band between 1982 and 1995. The original line-up reformed especially to perform at this year’s Folk Awards.

After many years of totally devoted attention to Danny's beloved instrument 'Victoria', Thwaites Basses have provided Danny with a 'Czech-Ease Travel Bass'. Because of new airline restrictions, 'Victoria' will now be retired from International Travel. A very distressed Danny was forced to considered this too, but is happy with his new 'short arse' friend 'Alfie'.
