CD - DANNY THOMPSON TRIO LIVE

Buy it Now

The tapes of this set, recorded at a long forgotten venue, had lain in Danny's attic for 32 years. The Danny Thompson Trio, in this particular format, did not enjoy a very long life but when it was in action it enjoyed the highest possible respect from the leaders of London's jazz scene. The likes of Ronnie Scott and Tubby Hayes were impressed.

The Trip:

Danny Thompson - Bass (Victoria)

John McLaughlin - Guitar

Tony Roberts - Tenor Saxophone, Flute, Bass Clarinet

A look back in in time at a band that should have done more recording.

Thank goodness this small fragment was preserved and that Danny remembered he had it and we now have the CD in stock.

"The result of our association is presented on this recording which consists of two separate pieces totally improvised. The time spent with Peter during this work was pure joy. He has a great humour, genorosity and as the recording clearly shows, superb musicanship with a wonderful tone." DANNY THOMPSON 1995

DANNY THOMPSON is one of the world's top acoustic bass players. He is often referred to as the 'Musicians Musician' because of the wide respect in which he is held.

In this video, Danny demonstrates his breadth of musical vision, while talking about his life in music, his early beginnings, his influences, and his career-long love affair with Victoria-the 160 year old lady with whom he has lived for the past 50 plus years: the lady in question is his double bass
